Tear Trough Filler Edinburgh
TEAR TROUGH FILLER: BECAUSE NO ONE EVER WANTS TO HEAR THE WORDS; ‘YOU LOOK TIRED’…

The tear trough is a depression that runs from the inner eye downwards to meet the cheek. As we age, the cheek and the structures beneath begin to lose volume that results in a depressed tear trough that appears darker and more sunken.

One of the most exciting advances in aesthetic medicine, dermal fillers can be used to rehydrate and volumise the cheek and tear trough; providing a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance.

FAQs – It’s ok to ask for more information – you’re in expert hands!

But please also remember that Dr. Culbard will cover all of this and more during your consultation and any subsequent treatment.

How does it work?

The treatment filler is made from hyaluronic acid – a naturally forming hydrator that creates small droplets among the tissue that gently expand over the following few days. Once filled, the area appears flat and the light reflects off the skin evenly correcting the dark circles. Best performed using needles for precise accuracy, this procedure certainly has the wow factor with its speed, ease and magical results: the bags and circles under the eyes quite literally disappear!

Am I suitable?

Dark circles can be due to a number of reasons including excessive pigmentation in dark skin, visible blood vessels in pale skin or just hollowing. Hollowing is the trough under the eye that casts a shadow and gives the plain tired look and this condition can also be hereditary as well as part of the normal ageing process.

The actual Tear Trough procedure can only address the hollowing and not any of the causes of dark circles. Dr. Culbard will carry out a thorough consultation to identify what category you call into and whether the Tear Trough procedure is for you.

Does it hurt?

You may think that treatment on the area under the eye would be painful but this is actually not the case. Any discomfort is minimal, however, a topical anaesthetic or dental block can be applied if you wish.

How long does it take?

The actual procedure following the consultation with Dr. Culbard takes around 10–15 minutes. You can expect instant results that can last anywhere from 6–12 months.

How safe is it?

All procedures carry risks, however, the key to minimise these is to ensure that you only ever have any procedure carried out by a qualified aesthetic surgeon such as Dr. Culbard!

Major long term side-effects are incredibly rare, however, there may some redness or slight swelling immediately after the procedure. Should these occur, they will be minimal, will resolve in a couple of days and can be covered by makeup in the interim..
