What is thread vein removal?

Ria, our skincare expert, has advanced training in the removal of thread veins (spider naevi). This treatment involves a small sterile probe which is tapped along the broken capillary releasing heat (short wave diathermy) that cauterises (sears) the broken vessel, allowing the capillary to heal and fade away.

Am I suitable?

There are a lot of reasons and factors as to why we can get broken capillaries – weather, smoking, general lifestyle; it can even be hereditary. However, knowing that there is a treatment available to remove these annoying capillaries means that we don’t need to live with them. This could be the very treatment you’ve been looking for! Please note, however, that we only offer treatments to the facial area.

Does it hurt?

Clients should be aware that during the treatment process we do not use a topical anaesthetic cream prior to treatment as the cream works as a vasoconstrictor – (causing blood vessels to constrict away from the skin). Use of a topical anaesthetic cream would mean a successful treatment could not be assured and may result in treatments not being cost effective or time efficient.

How long does it take?

The average treatment time is around 30 minutes.

How safe is it?

This procedure is completely safe and as always we provide you with a full consultation before any bookings to ensure you get the right treatment with exactly the right effects for you. Skin reaction post-treatment will result in the area being slightly red with a few kitten-like scratches appearing on the surface that will last for a duration of between 7-10 days.

How long will it last?

It will take 4-6 weeks to experience the full result from the treatment and a follow up review will be required to assess if any further treatment is needed.
