Many people think Laser and IPL are the same thing, here are some of the key differences and why laser is more effective as a hair removal method.
- Soprano Ice laser is more effective than IPL, so you need fewer treatments
- Soprano Ice laser is safer than IPL, due to its narrower spectrum that specifically targets hair roots and reduces the risk to the surrounding skin
- Soprano Ice laser is more comfortable, the new ICE applicator cools the skin by integrating numerous cooling pumps within the applicator. Combined with the sapphire tip for contact cooling, treatments are virtually pain-free and more enjoyable than ever before.
Laser machines create more heat directed at the hair follicles than IPL systems, hence achieving better results. The heat is absorbed by the follicle and not the skin, therefore there is a decreased risk of burning when using laser machines – this also makes laser a safer option for darker skinned individuals.
IPL plays an important role in the treatment of skin pigmentation and fine blood vessels, however it is not the most effective treatment for hair removal. An IPL machine produces a broad spectrum of wavelengths that cannot be focused to a concentrated beam. A range of different wavelengths are dispersed at a variety of depths, only some of these will be effective for hair reduction. IPL also penetrates at a more shallow level, this means that thicker deeper hairs are not treated effectively.
